The luminosity of watercolors is what fascinates and draws me to this medium. I like creating textures and continually try to stretch the boundaries of watercolor. I experiment with materials and media to get the results I want.
I studied painting at the Rhodesian School of Art in Zimbabwe and for four years in California with master watercolorist, Jerry Stitt, AWS.

I've been reading a ton of books, watching Youtube videos, and trying out stuff. This was my first course where I actually sat down and followed along. Jean's easy-going thorough teaching method is paced just right for me, and I had success at producing my first frame-able piece. I look forward to taking away what I have learned and expanding on it through trying other things. Thanks Jean.
I enjoyed this course! I really liked Jean's style. She is easy to listen to, easy to follow, and she has a course structure that is to-the-point yet never left me feeling lost or unsure. There is nothing to be intimidated by here. I also liked Jean's handout in the first lesson - I used it to follow along during the whole course. I learned useful composition techniques that I can see application for even in my drawings outside of the watercolor medium. I highly recommend Jean and her course.

I so enjoy this teacher. She has the gift of being able to talk as she paints and the explanations and the painting both end up beautifully. I would take every course she offered. I enjoy the bright colors she uses, I enjoy her blend of "techniques" with a nice dose of loose painting.
Love this technique. Easy to follow and hard not to come away with a successful painting. Great for beginners. Looking forward to more classes.
Jean did a great job explaining her process and made it easy to paint a great looking painting. Her pace was just right and she taught in an engaging way.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course with Jean Lurssen. She has a wonderful steady pace that is conducive to understanding what she is doing, what the intent will be. I liked using masking fluid and found enough challenge in the leaves and spray relationship to keep me busy to perfect that watercolor technique balance. Thanks.
