This watercolor class is all about helping you think outside the box and discover ways to make your watercolor paintings unique. I've created a series of watercolor lessons that will help you loosen up and create interesting abstract watercolors. We will paint a landscape by inventing the colors, you also will learn to paint with all neutral hues, creating a pleasing and calming abstract scene, then on to something a little more challenging, using various materials to create textures in the landscape. The final watercolor is slightly more challenging, using watercolor and mixed media to create landscape shapes.
Work at your own pace with unlimited access at any time.
The course includes:
- Painting wet-in-wet
- Using different materials to create textures in your watercolor
- How to use acrylic inks for special effects
- Using neutral colors for a calming abstract landscape
- Combining watercolor and mixed media
You will also have the ability to upload a photo of your finished artwork if you would like feedback on your watercolor.
Your Instructor
The luminosity of watercolors is what fascinates and draws me to this medium. I like creating textures and continually try to stretch the boundaries of watercolor. I experiment with materials and media to get the results I want.
I studied painting at the Rhodesian School of Art in Zimbabwe and for four years in California with master watercolorist, Jerry Stitt, AWS.
Lifetime Access
You will have lifetime access to this course! I want you to be able to review the content over and over again until you absorb the techniques used to create your very own successful watercolor. You'll find that each time you review the course you'll remember something new that will help to improve your painting skills.

I have been at this for two years and have watched hundreds of videos. I have also saved dozens of videos on the "wet on wet" technique. Ms. Lurssen gives me the best insight compared to all the other talented artists I have watched. Because of her lessons, I have more confidence every time I start a new project. Every day brings more progress. Thank you so much, Jean!

Very well explained! Jean is really friendly and easy going, but absolutely professional and experienced at the same time. I loved the neutral painting exercise, this one was my favorite. Thank you, Jean, your course was great pleasure to me and I think the quality of your art and your teaching skills are both outstanding!

What a beautiful class this is. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the painting come to life and learned a lot on the way. I particularly liked that there were some 'mistakes' and that Jean showed how to fix these. Highly recommended if you want to discover the landscapes that are waiting to come out of your hands.

What a fantastic class for anyone who loves abstract watercolour/ink. I really enjoyed it, definitely helps one think outside the box

I am loving your course and have just finished my first painting based on the first lesson. Love your paintings and style and it was so much fun to try!
- Janet
I've been a fan of Jean for a while. While the subject matter is acceptable for beginners, she doesn't make you feel like you're new. Her confidence and ease with her materials puts me at ease as well. Thanks for another great lesson, Jean!
